The Story of Big Twin & Karte Blanche

Julian "BigTwin" Hoggard has a unique story into being an artist and designer.  Like most artists, he started drawing and painting when he was a small child. When he became a preteen, he got interested in deconstructing garments out of him and his twin brother closet.  He engaged in bleaching and painting on clothing, exploring the possibilities of ideas.  He then started making clothing and art for his middle school to high school friends, dealing mostly with fabric paint for expression and creation.  From high school, Big Twin studied Sociology at Elizabeth City State University, earning a B.A. in the field.  Started Special Education Major to Art Major to Sociology, he became interested in the human experience. After graduating from ECSU, BigTwin went on to become a Social Worker and QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) where he continues to do work in the community.  Still engaging in art and making clothing for himself, his friends, and supporters, he became infatuated with symbolism and cultural norms in society.  This experience and his personal life has shaped and molded him into an artist trying to deliver truth in times of turmoil with symbolism and self-expression.  Through this ongoing process, Big Twin continues to help with Non-Profits and At-Risk Youth and Adults bringing awareness to the human community.  His current design techniques are sewing, woodworking, drawing, painting, graphic design, and printing.

KARTE BLANCHE

 

KARTE BLANCHE is a clothing brand that represents Freedom.  KARTE BLANCHE was established by Founder Julian "BigTwin" Hoggard in 2012 as LLP SUPPLY CO.,  but reinvented and rebranded in 2019 as KARTE BLANCHE. 

 

 KARTE BLANCHE RUNNING MAN:  The running man is a symbol of pursuing your dreams/goals.  This is the symbol of hard-work and getting through your obstacles no matter what faces you.  The running man has a star as a head which represents everyone being a star.  The 7 point star that the running man is holding is a West African Adinkra symbol  name "NSOROMMA" that means guardianship; child of the heavens, a reminder that God is the father and watches over all people.  The 3 stars the running man is above represents Life, Liberty, Pursuit.  We have to remember as a people that we have to TRY to live a righteous Life, BE responsible for our Liberty, and in the process Pursue our dreams/goals.
